About Us

Meet your local connection in Santorini, George, Marika & the team of Mega Travel Advisors! We are tremendously excited about coming on board with whl.travel, joining a network that shares the same sort of commitment to protect their destinations instead of exploiting them. We insist on preserving our local heritage, gastronomy, culture and architecture of Santorini- and are taking steps to avoid the destruction of our home island!

Two years ago we took our first steps regarding this new interest, by introducing programs for foreign students to be involved in volunteer social projects. These activities included cleaning beaches, clearing paths to reach beaches or traditional settlements, and several other local acitivities made in collaboration with the cultural association of different villages of the island. We are now looking to do similar projects with adult travellers.

We want to show travellers the true side of Santorini! Many visitors only see the busy town life and never experience the peaceful islander side of Santorini. There are many nice, hospitable old people and local people who are active in preserving their cultural traditions in religious celebrations. Today, neighborhood ladies get together to prepare the festivities, called Panigiria, and are proud of sharing them!

Meet the team of Mega Travel Advisors!

Marika grew up in France with a Greek background and has now been living in Santorini for 12 years. She travelled when she was very young with her family as independent travellers from France to Eastern European countries and experienced very good local hospitality everywhere. She also witnessed the eagerness of local people to show and share their heritage when they saw genuine interest.

She started her career by escorting small groups, from island to island, generally in small undeveloped islands and enjoyed being the "link" between the travellers and the local people, encouraging them to communicate, whether by dancing at local tavernas or shopping at a small family super market.

She decided she wanted to move to an island to be close to traditional cultural life and nature and offer much more personal attention to her customers. She feels as if she is a local now and is in touch with most of the cultural associations of the island, taking part in many of their activities. She is currently the coordinator of all programs (student, individual, small groups, incentive...). She is multilingual, fluently speaking French, Greek, English, and moderate German. She also correctly speaks the local dialect of northern Greece.

In her free time she enjoys reading, dancing at traditional dances (particularly in Northern Greece where her roots are), walking, mountain hiking, drawing and photography. However, travelling always remains a "must"! She loves to see new things and learn about new cultures and other ways of doing things communication with people. She understands Greece from a foreigner point of view and gives personal assistance and a personal touch to all special interests packages.

Meet the rest of the team! George takes care of the administration and promotion, Niki takes care of the lodging and hotel reservations, management and hotel inspection. Stavros, Marika's son, along with Vangelis, George, Stelios and Manolis are the local teenagers of the summer team and are the ones who will cares for travellers upon arrival with their gentle smile and warm  welcome. They all started their training as volunteers as the team wanted to build a generation of professionals who care for the heritage of their environment.

Mega Travel Advisors is a medium-sized, family company offering a personalised touch. We opened four years ago, providing all travel services, from accommodation, all kind of tours, assistance, guides, and car rental. We work for individuals as well as for groups, offering incentive and conference organisation and recently started wedding planning.

Our business is a family affair and we work as a team. All of the staff has been selected for their enthusiasm and genuine care for our destination. We have a good knowledge of our destination and have an excellent relationship with all our suppliers; mostly our success was built on the good personal attention we offer. We welcome about 7,000 visitors per year, working with local people and promoting local products and putting trust together with professionalism.
